Manitoba Lotteries' dedicated employees take tremendous pride in the work we do and the resulting benefits we return to our province. We balance the entertainment part of our business with social responsibility and a genuine desire to contribute to better lives for Manitobans.
Revenue Investment
$304.8 million was given to the Province of Manitoba in 2008/2009.
This income flows to our communities through several streams. For example:
Community Support
Manitoba Lotteries takes tremendous pride in supporting our communities. In 2008/2009, Manitoba Lotteries provided $5.9 million to nonprofit community organizations through the Casinos of Winnipeg Bingo Volunteer Program and by supporting Manitoba events and charitable organizations through our Community Support Program.
Manitoba Lotteries supported important community events such as Super Cities Walk for MS, Special Olympics Program of Excellence, Bike to Work Day, Manipogo Festival, Dominion City Summer Fest Days, Operation Red Nose, Manitoba Museum-Louis Riel Day and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Manitoba Lotteries also funded major entertainment and arts activities such as the Canadian Country Music Week & Awards, CBC Comedy Festival, Folklorama, Festival du Voyageur and MTC Regional Tour.
Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity (HFH) was strengthened by the announcement of the Manitoba Lotteries Habitat for Humanity Legacy Build Fund. Over the next five years, Manitoba Lotteries will provide $2.5 million, which will be matched by other community organizations to aid in the building of homes in all HFH chapters in Manitoba.
Manitoba Lotteries also supported sports organizations like the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football Club, the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club, the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Club and the Manitoba Marathon.
As well, Manitoba Lotteries donated $4 million of the $5.9 million total in community funding to more than 400 non-profit organizations who participated in the Bingo Volunteer Program at the Casinos of Winnipeg. Tourism Impact
The Casinos of Winnipeg are a major tourism attraction for our province. Tourism related to the Casinos generates $35 million in gross economic activity per year. Coach tour visits in 2008/2009 totaled 700 from within Manitoba as well as from Saskatchewan, Ontario, Alberta, Quebec and several northern U.S. States. These visitors contributed to local hotels, restaurants, shopping, and other attractions.

Employee Involvement
Manitoba Lotteries also contributed to our communities through countless hours of employee volunteerism in a multitude of events this year. We thank and acknowledge all Manitoba Lotteries volunteers who selflessly volunteer their time and efforts to worthy causes throughout the province.
